Figueres + Chambery + Modane

Just to make a little things better, I'm just going to mash up some of the blogs that I intended to be separate... =)

ONE : Figueres, Spain

What a beautiful little town… for a second I thought this was the most Northeastern, populated city. And I actually might be true but there is one more city on the map, visually, that is literally on the coast next to the border. Anyway I stopped here in Figueres and freaked out because I was supposed to catch another train, but I didn’t glance to the clock, so I missed it. Well it was more like I walked up to the ticket counter and said I wanted to go to the next town…. Forgot city name… somewhere in France, and make it to Nice by tomorrow night, but that didn’t happened and had to reschedule the whole trip. Now at first, I almost cried… because the town looked to deserted at the time… and I freaked out again because I didn’t know what to do. So I put my Spanish skills to test and tried to find another route, and get a taxi, in which I both was successful at. YAY ME! But anyway, I got to Hotel Ramble, which was right in the middle of town. And the room I rented was quite full to what I expected. Pretty much receiving more than intended… which is a good thing!! Anyway I had time to venture out a little and had something for dinner that quite surprised me after I researched what it was…. I also took a picture.. haha *drum roll* It was CUTTLEFISH! El camarero dijo que es como calamari. And I believed it, because it looked and tasted like it, FOR CHEAP! Haha well that was a typical dish de España, good dish! Catching the next train at 11 wasn’t bad because I didn’t have to rush in any way.

I’d have to say that I learned that this town is way more important than I thought. The artist Salvador Dali was actually born and raised in this town/ city. And there was even a museum / gallery of his work. I didn’t actually get to go inside but it was quite interesting enough from the outside. In this museum that I’ve read, not only was it Dali’s work, but his wife’s as well. So it really was the Dali museum. Figueres also had a few more museums that were interesting: Figuere’s Museum of Toys of Cataluña, and another modern art, that I forgot the name to. But I walked around and also found the cathedral, which was all in seconds from the Dali museum and others, especially my hotel. So it was enough time, to be in and out to see what I expected. Well I actually did want to enter the Dali building but the timing was off. But like I said it was just enough to be standing outside that building….”whew!!!” is all I have to say about that.

Anyway off to France in the morning, Happy Birthday to me. =)

TWO: Chambery, France

This town… I have to stop saying town, because these are all cities. But Chambery was something interesting for me. I had originally planned to just pass through here, but I had to spend the night in. I wished I walked around but my first impression of this city was a little too errg…! *worried face* But anyway I walked to find something cheap, something more like a hostel but then, the bike dude, the dude that worked at a bike shop right outside the train station, told me a place that did not exist, or at least was not in the spot that he had said, and then I even walked around, but I felt like not walking in circles, hence I took note on my way to “this hostel”, some cheap hotels. And what I ended up doing was walking to “this hostel” and then walked in a very big circle around town to this hotel I saw right across the street from the train station, in which I am grateful to have chosen because I actually didn’t sleep well last night, and woke up a little later than expected. But anyway the town was a little unsafe feeling. I walked down a street where the buses stop and whatnot, and it just had a vibe of uh oh! It was completely bad; I just have to say that I didn’t like it. I mean maybe it was the people, but the city physically was beautiful. There were also streets that were only for walking and no cars, probably the exceptional but at the time, there weren’t any and on the map there were a little grayer. Anyway another factor of uncertainty was as I walked back to the hotel that I first seen,  I walked by a park which had a skate park within it and I saw a couple of guys out of the peripheral of my eyes, who were having an argument(?). And so out of my own safety, I kept walking and made sure I wasn’t followed etc. etc. And as I pass them, I hear the sound of like fist-face, some kine of skin interaction. Of course I didn’t turn around or even glance back… I kept walking, if I didn’t walk even faster. Because I know when fights break out, people run, or people have things that they really shouldn’t. Anyway I got to my room, and tried to get online to call my people,… haha my family… and you know you shouldn’t always trust things when they say free…. Because things in life are never free… so really I just bummed off someone’s wifi. It worked, so erg yeah, now It’s about 7:44am on the 10th, the day after my birthday and off to my destination hopefully I can make it. This time, I have two options: one to Roma, and one to Venezia. This will work!
Okay, until next time. =)
